The Consultation Process

3.1

It was decided to undertake pre-questionnaire consultation in four stages.  Herefordshire Council’s Research Team and Parish Liaison Officer, and Community First, would be approached by the Chairman and Clerk without delay and in that order.  When the Parish Plan Grant had been confirmed, other reference agencies would be contacted.  The Council would then turn to the service providers including the pubs, Gorsley Goffs School and the churches.  Finally, local committees, groups and activities would be invited to attend a ‘Community Planning Day’ at which all topics could be identified in a comprehensive and coherent way.

Consultation with the reference agencies and service providers would be done by teams of 2 or 3 Councillors working together, in each instance preceded by a letter explaining the purpose.  Standard letters would be drafted by the Chairman and Clerk and submitted for Council’s approval.

Potential Questions for a Parish Questionnaire

5.1

It was decided to defer this item to a separate meeting to be held at 7.30pm on 14th March 2002 at Linton Village Hall. The Clerk to book the hall. By that time, the ComDev questionnaire will have been published and that may contain some relevant ideas. The Clerk will obtain a copy.

5.2

From the floor, it was suggested that it could be helpful to hold a trial of the questionnaire on a small group before it is finalised. It was decided that the idea has merit provided that it can be achieved without compromising the exercise proper.
