Clarification of Rules Relating To Suspension of Standing Orders |
|
|
|
3.1 |
The Clerk explained that under paras 3 and 4 of
Standing Orders (Page 8), Council is obliged to hold all except the Statutory
Annual Meeting on the second Monday of a month. Para 71 (page 15)
specifically excludes the suspension of Standing Orders as a means of
revising that day or date. Therefore, until Standing Orders are revised, the
next meeting will be on Monday May 10th. |

3.2 |
During discussion it was decided that the Standing
Orders are not sensible since they mean that, even if the second Monday is a
Bank Holiday, Council must still meet on that day. Proposed by Cllr Richard
Smith, seconded by Cllr John Wheble and approved unanimously, IT WAS AGREED
that the agenda for the meeting of May 10th shall include an item
to consider revision of Standing Orders in this respect and that that item
will embrace the annual review of Standing Orders. |

|
3.3 |
In consultation
with the Chairman, the Clerk will prepare draft revisions for circulation
with the agenda. |
