Linton Village Hall-Ursula Stewart has advised the Clerk that she has spoken to the suppliers of the Basketball Unit and asked them to send a quote in order for us to place the order. As soon as this is received the Clerk will order the Basketball Unit.

Meeting with Gorsley & Kilcot Parish Council-re collaboration. The Clerk reported that Margaret Highton would confirm if they can meet on January 23rd as provisionally agreed. She will confirm the date and place, after their Council meeting on January 10th. The Clerk will advise Cllr Jean Foley.

Parish Plan Implementation

 

 

5.1

Affordable Housing-Cllr.Rob Crawford asked if the Clerk could contact CHDC to see if they have completed the Housing Needs Survey for Linton.

The Future of Linton Quarry

 

 

6.1

Cllr John Foley said that he is still waiting for English Nature and/or one of the other advisory groups to advise when a speaker can make a presentation to Council.

Lengthsmans Project

 

 

7.1

The Clerk has sent copies of all paid invoices to CHDC and will send an invoice for the remaining two outstanding quarters of the Lengthsmans grant.

A meeting to discuss the Lengthsman has been arranged for January 26th.

Cllr John Foley said that 30 walkers enjoyed the Boxing Day Walk.

Two stiles have now been delivered and Cllr John Foley will arrange for a working party to have them installed in the Parish.

Sophie Price of Community First rang to ask if Council had appointed a Rural Transport Representative. She was advised that we have not.

The Clerk has been approached by Lea Parish Council regarding sharing the cost of the Clerk’s training. Council agreed. The Clerk will advise Lea Parish Council.

Councillors’ Submissions, including Village Events

 

 

12.1

Cllr John Wheble said that there had been another serious accident at the junction of Gorsley Goffs School & the B4221. He asked the Clerk to contact Andrew Lee-Jones at CHDC to ask when the suggested improvements in the Route Safety Study will be implemented. This junction was identified as being dangerous.

Cllr Rob Crawford asked if Cllr Jean Foley could ask CHDC why planning was granted for The Grange.

He asked if there are any planning policies regarding temporary caravans for fruit pickers. Cllr Jean Foley will advise at the next meeting.

Cllr John Foley said that the Blaenavon Male Voice Choir came to Linton Church on January 6th and following a very enjoyable evening they all retired to the Alma where they continued to entertain the customers.

 

 

12.5

Cllr Ken Downham said that he had contacted Brian Evans, the Tree Warden, asking him to look at the trees by Linton Quarry. He will contact him before the next meeting to see if the work has been done.

Cllr Richard Smith said that the film Hotel Rwanda will be showing at Gorsley Village Hall on January 12th at 7.30pm.

Gorsley Village Hall is looking for a new Chairman.

 

 

12.8

Cllr Richard Smith tendered his resignation due to his mother’s ill health. He asked if the Chairman could pass on his best wishes to the other Councilors who could not attend. Cllr Jean Foley read out his letter of resignation and thanked him for all the work he has done over the years. Cllr John Wheble thanked him for his extensive work in the community. Cllr Ken Downham said that his input was invaluable and that he will be sadly missed.
